Afroze Ali on The Self Worth Edit Podcast

I am so excited to share with you my first podcast interview as an author!

The Self Worth Edit text with flowers in the background.

In this podcast episode, I talk about my inspiration for writing the book, the gender and power imbalances in South Asian families, how it impacts our ability to see ourselves as leaders, some tips on equality in your marriage (learned through trial and error), and most importantly….

SELF WORTH, SELF WORTH, SELF WORTH.

I loved sitting down (virtually) with Nausheen, the host of The Self Worth Edit podcast. I have known Nausheen since we were kids. She and her sister were always the nice, quiet young ladies that so many of us were encouraged to be. I was so happy to have this very open conversation with Nausheen and I learned something very critical during this podcast: things are not always as they seem, and we are all going through some very similar challenges.

It can feel isolating, especially when our community and family prefer that we NOT share with others what goes on behind closed doors. However, we cannot move forward or heal if we cannot talk about our lived experiences in a safe environment, with the intent to grow and heal.

My family continues to heal and grow as a result of this book and the subsequent conversations that have followed. The truth is, we can ALL use some healing vibes, whether it’s because of family, community, relationships, friendships, careers, or otherwise. Everything is connected, and we’ve learned that more than ever going through this pandemic together-while-apart.

You are deserving of healing and happiness. No matter what anyone has told you. No matter how many times you’ve failed or made mistakes. No matter how many tears you’ve cried.

You deserve it.

You deserve it all.

Your SELF is worth it.

And your leadership SELF is already there, waiting to be proudly claimed by you.

Just in case you missed the links earlier, here they are again.
